"Rhodes Model Regional Co-operation 2010", a unique simulation organized by the House of Europe in Rhodes: October 6-10, 2010

The registration period for
Rhodes Model Regional Co-operation 2010, a unique simulation organized by the
House of Europe in Rhodes has just opened. RhodesMRC 2010 will take place in Rhodes,
October 6-10, 2010.
The organizing partners are the
Municipality of Rhodes, the
Postgraduate Studies Programme “Political, Economic and International Relations in the Mediterranean” of the Department of Mediterranean Studies of the
University of the Aegean in Rhodes and the
International Centre for Black Sea Studies, while it is supported by the Prefecture of Dodecanese.
RhodesMRC follows the practice of
Model United Nations. MUN is a global trend on the training of students of political sciences and diplomats, for more than 80 years. Students, young scientists of law, political science or international relations and diplomats or just international relations “fans”, gather together at places around the world to simulate the works of an international organization and its committees, gaining valuable experience on negotiations and resolution making. Being academically innovative and challenging, our Model is dedicated to Regional Co-operation. Therefore, for RhodesMRC 2010, the Union for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea Economic Co-operation Organization will be simulated, both at ministerial level. Especially for the latter organization, the occasion is unique as during RhodesMRC 2010, Greece holds the chairmanship-in-office of the actual organization. For both committees the agenda includes specific aspects of the co-operation in Energy and Maritime affaires.
Rhodes has been at the crossroads of civilizations for over 3 thousand years. A place where Christians, Jewish and Muslims coexist for the last 500 years, with a strong tradition of co-operation among nations and between people, Rhodes is a unique background for any conference, having hosted major summits, international meetings and conferences. It is an ideal set for such a simulation, while the participants (till now from 9 countries) will become ambassadors of Rhodes, sharing their experience with their friends and colleagues, back at their countries.
The sessions of RhodesMRC will be hosted at the City Hall of Rhodes and the board and organizing committee consists of highly skilled young people with multiple participations to similar conferences all over the world, while the whole preparation is supervised by a scientific committee assorted by scientists and experts from Greece and abroad.

Finally, the House of Europe in Rhodes, with the occasion of
RhodesMRC 2010, will honor Mrs
Rodi Kratsa-Tsagkaropoulou, Vice-president of the European Parliament, for her long contribution to the development of the parliamentarian relations and the advancement of co-operation among the countries of what came to be the
Union for the Mediterranean.
