Mayor: Stathis Kousournas

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE


Stathis Kousournas was born in the village of Apolakkia on the island of Rhodes in 1954.

He is married to the teacher, Voula Mitsaki and has two children, George, a doctor, and Elina, a business consultant.

He holds the degree of Civil Engineer from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki and a postgraduate degree in Regional Development.

• 1991 -2000 President of the Technical Chamber of the Dodecanese, elected for three consecutive terms
• 1991 – 1994 Member of the Council of the Prefecture of the Dodecanese
• 1993 – 2002 Director of the Dodecanese Development Company (AN. DO. A.E.)
• 1995 – 2002 Member of the Southern Aegean Regional Council
• 2002 – 2009 Vice-Prefect of the Dodecanese, responsible for Planning, Development and Public Works
• 2002 – 2006 President of the Environment Committee of the Prefecture
• 2007 – 2009 President of the Road Safety Committee of the Prefecture
• 2007 candidate for Member of Parliament for the Dodecanese (PASOK)
• 2009 – 2010 Member of Parliament for the Dodecanese (PASOK)
• 2011 - Mayor of Rhodes
