French-speaking / Spanish-speaking / Italian-speaking literary translation workshop.
Description:
The International Writers and Translators’ Center of Rhodes organizes a French-speaking/Spanish-speaking literary translation workshop with the tutor Ms.
Georgia Zakopoulou, translator and member of the Editorial Committee of the “Metafrassi” magazine.
The participants will work on selected texts of the French and Spanish literature seeking for the potentialities and the limits of literary translation, to pin-point the translation difficulties, to elaborate solutions and complete their translation. The participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
The results of each workshop will be presented in an event held by the
I.W.T.C.R. and the translations will be published in the Center’s literary magazine “Helios”.
The workshop will begin mid-March 2010; there will be 8 meetings, each meeting’s duration will be 3 hours. The tutor and the participants will decide upon the dates. The participants should command the French language (at least DALF C2 level) and the Spanish language (at least Superiore). Please apply promptly since the number of participants is limited.

Maria Spyridopoulou.
Ms. Spyridopoulou is a professional translator and teaches theatrical translation at the University of the Peloponnese. The workshop is taking place at the facilities of I.W.T.C.R. (10a, A. Laskou street, Monte Smith). The duration of the workshop is
8 hours.
