During a press conference held at the City Council Hall, on August 6th, the organization to our island, of the 2007 Rhodes BG Triathlon World Cup 2007, to be held in Rhodes, October 6-7, 2007, was announced. The Mayor of Rhodes, Mr. Hatzis Hatzievthimiou, Vice-Mayor on Culture, Mr. Kostas Taraslias and the President of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Dimitris Tombras, held the press conference.

The schedule of the event, along with its official logo, was presented. The event is listed among the official events of the Triathlon World Cup 2007. As a result of this, top athletes around the world will participate, as the results of the event contribute to their rankings for participation to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

100 men and 100 women will compete, 75% of them from the Official Ranking, and 25% on each category to be selected through draw. Along with escorts and coaching teams, about 1500 people will travel to Rhodes, for their participation to the event.
