Although inextricably linked to mythology, history and the traditions of Greece , Equestrian is a relatively new sport to Rhodes.
In 1996, the first Equestrian Club named, “Cadmos’, was formed and since the year 2000, has been hosted in a private 12 acres facility, in Sgourou.
It’s located 10 kms from the Rhodes City centre and is close to Rhodes-Lindos Ave.
In 2002, the facility was included in the Athens Olympiad, pre-games training for Dressage and Jumping.
The facility has:
- A 60 x 80 track suitable for Grand Prix level competition in Dressage and Jumping.
- A 20 x 40 training track.
- A smaller rink of 300 sqm for riding lessons with ponies.
- A 900 sq.m. covered area where there are 35 horse boxes, rooms for cellars, WC, showers, storage for hay and horse feed.
- A building with a rest area and restaurant for athletes and visitors.
Horses are also available for group tours in the forests and mountains surrounding the facility.
Nearby, there are hotels of various categories, restaurants, shops, attractions and organized beaches.
