The IBSA Open European Championships in Athletics adopted as its maskot, Champy the donkey. The donkey as an animal is strictly connected to the history and customs of Rhodes. His name refers to "Champion", as well as an abbreviated version of "Tsambikos", a popular name in Rhodes.
