Rhodes candidate for the European Blind Athletics Championship

The Sports Union for people with disabilities «Dodecanisos» filed to International Blind Sports Association its candidacy for Rhodes to host the European Blind Athletic Championship. In cooperation of the Hellenic Federation of Sports of people with disabilities and with support of the local authorities, the candidacy is strengthened by the experience gained from organizing Rhodes Island Games 2007, as long as by the contribution of Paralympic Medalist Thanassis Mparakas.

The championship hosts around 500 athletes and their respective aids and trainers, and all the sports of blind athletics will be held for ten days on June 2009. In case of the final approval of Rhodes candidacy, our island will be recorded as one of the most significant places for sports events for people with disabilities.
